The Joystick [IED CANNON PROJECT]
Problem: Extremly old camera control mechanism needs use
Part 1: The Internals.
The Joystick:
I was lucky to scrounge this from the loading docks at school. i found it early November and it is perfect for our class project. Each stage on the main joystick has an individual potentiometer. so, using an adc on a microcontroller, it will be relatively simple to determine the values for using it as input. using the voltage divider rule, the voltage out of the middle pin equates to the position of the potentiometer.

The Buttons.
Common ground keyboard buttons, individually wired to the microcontroller for future use.
The Lcd.
On first glance, i found why they threw it out the electroluminicent strip back light was dead. That was all. the lcd appears to be an hd4470 derivative and upon finding a spec sheet. moreover allelectronics sells el-strip cheap.
